Chinese Zodiac Animals

Dear Mom and Dad:

Rainbow triad is preparing for Chinese New Years this week! On Thursday it is Chinese New Years. We talked about some of the traditions that happen during this time. Some of the things we learned was that people like to wear red on Chinese New Years Day, children get red envelopes with lucky money inside, people eat noodles because symbolizes long life and oranges because it symbolizes happiness.

We learned that there are 12 different animals that represent a year every twelve years. Mrs. Ly told us a story of how the order came about. Ask me to tell you the story about he animals crossing the river. Also I can tell you why cats don’t like rats and why a cat is not one of the animals in the Chinese zodiac.

Question of the day: Post on the blog something you learned about Chinese New Year. Next post on the blog what animal I am by putting my birthdate in here at this website. Chinese Zodiac

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

  2. Owen E- Red is a lucky colour. The cat could not compete in the race because the rat did not wake him up. That is is why the cat and rat do not like each other. The cat did not compete so he is not a zodiac animal.
