HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Dear Mom and Dad:

Wow what an amazing and busy last day we had today before winter break! Today was also Mr. Link’s last day with us. We all signed a book for him. It was the first book he had read to our class. He made a special card for us with a nice message inside. We will truly miss him and wish him all the best of luck.

We all got the opportunity to explore Ipads this morning during daily 5. We will be introducing the next choice in Daily 5 called “listen to reading” and “word work” where we can use the Ipads to help with this part of the literacy component.

In the afternoon we worked hard wrapping our gift to you and making a special card. I hope you enjoy it :)

We read a book called “The Wild Christmas Reindeer” and made some special Magic Reindeer Food.  Ask me to tell you what is in it and what I need to do with it on Christmas Eve. We talked about different places I can sprinkle it to attract the reindeers!

We were then off to dance as we did some groovy moves to some holiday music and then ended off the day with caroling. Mr. Southworth made a nice video slideshow of all the things that we have done so far in the school year. It helped us remember all the things we have done such as: Pinwheels for peace, Terry Fox Run, Peace Assemblies, Remembrance Day Assembly, Read-a-Thon, Christmas Concert, Math & Literacy Night, Drumfit.

Question of the day: Post your plans for the holidays!

Have a safe holiday with all of your friends and families.

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Dear Parents:

What an amazing year we have had so far. In just a short period we feel so lucky to have such an amazing triad with such great students. Thank you for all of your kind words and wishes. We wish your family a great holiday and happy new year.

The inventions of Rainbow Triad

Dear Mom and Dad:

We started the day doing some calendar math. We looked at how many days before Christmas and how many days we have been in school.

We made some special art today. But shhhhh I am not going to tell you what it is because I will be bringing it home as a gift for my family tomorrow J

We read a book and looked at some videos about different inventions. I came up with my own invention and wrote about it. There are lots of interesting inventions that we came up with.

All three classes had music today. Ask me about gym and playing with a ball that is BIGGER than me!

Tomorrow is the last day before winter break!

Question of the day: Post on the blog what your invention was and what does it do?

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

All of the lost and found items will be sent to the Diabetes Association over the holidays. Please remind your child to check the lost and found if they are missing anything. We will be going by as a class as well.

3 Guest Teachers

Message from a Penbrooke Meadows Teacher, December 14/14 about our “Families Helping Families” project:

So taking the gifts was such an experience to the home I went to - I actually was emotional afterwards driving home.
When they opened the door there were 4 kids and 1 baby.  They had a small little tree that they had put lights on and it was sitting on top of a side coffee table.  The kids’ faces were so happy - they lit up.  They started jumping up and down and saying Thank you Thank you Thank you..!  They couldn't believe that we just kept bringing more bags in and more....  We told them that they were to save these for Christmas to open...so they said they are going to put them under the little tree and they started to make a pile.  They commented on the wrapping paper and how special it made them feel that they were wrapped.  Mom gave us a big hug and said Thank you So much.  The kids were so excited and were waving to us when we left.

There was no feeling like it.  Your families and staff have made SUCH a difference to our school and our families through your generosity.  This was only one family that I delivered and it didn't leave my mind all weekend. To see this family filled with such joy was amazing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Cranston School and Ms. Rauser.  We love you. xx

Dear Mom and Dad:

We had three guest teachers today as all of our teachers were at a meeting. Our teachers received great feedback. We were peacemakers and were great listeners and learners. Let’s write the blog together. I can answer the question of the day. Here’s the challenge: Try not to repeat any comments that were made.

Question of the day: Post on the blog one thing you remember doing today?

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Constable Mattice

Dear Mom and Dad:

We enjoyed some caroling in the gym today. Ask me to tell you what songs we sang. We even did a santa dance. It was a lot of fun.

Constable Mattice spent some time with each or our classes today in our classroom! She showed us her tools and talked about what her job is as a police officer. Ask me to tell you what her most important tool is (her five senses). We reach designed our own badge and listened to a story called “ I like myself.” We discussed some of the things that we like about our selves on the inside and outside. We have been talking a lot about symbols and what they represent in social studies and we were able to apply this to learning to our badges today.

Question of the day: Post one thing you learned from Constable Mattice today.

Cantare Choir

**A HUGE thank you to all of the gifts that were brought in for our "Families helping families project." All of the gifts were delivered today to the schools of the families. You have helped in such a big way you have no idea! Our learning commons was over flowing with all of the gifts that were brought in. Thank you for making such a big difference this holiday season to these families.

Dear Mom and Dad:

Sorry there was no blog entry yesterday. We had a practice lockdown yesterday. Today we were so lucky to listen to the Cantare Choir. They are a group of young people with such beautiful singing voices. If I am interested in joining the choir, I have a book mark with information on there of where I can go to sign up.

Have a safe and great weekend.

Question of the day: Post on the blog something you have to remember when there is a lockdown.

Love,
The Rainbow Triad
