Dear Mom and Dad:
Happy Groundhogs Day! We read some books about the groundhog
and talked about what we predict: If he will see his shadow or if he doesn’t.
Ask me to tell you what the shadow tells us about if winter stays or if spring
is coming! As a class we each indicated on a chart what we predicted and then
wrote our predictions with illustrations in our writing journals.
We had a special assembly in the afternoon. It was our kick
off assembly for Carnivale! Next Tuesday we will be having our Carnivale event.
(Please read Housekeeping if you are able to volunteer)
Today we discovered who Ted Harrison is. We will be studying
him and his artwork. Ask me to tell you about him and his style of art and help
me post this on the blog.
Question of the day: Post
on the blog something you learned about Ted Harrison.
Please take some time to read our housekeeping items!
Love,
The Rainbow Triad
Housekeeping:
- To The Families of
Cranston Students:
Sunday morning, one of our
overhead sprinklers malfunctioned and caused some flooding in the school.
There will be no
interruption to learning because of this, and there is no danger to students or
staff. CBE Facilities, Honeywell and Serv Pro have worked all night to clean up
the water and dry out the areas. School continues today on schedule.
The flooding affected some
of the storage areas that open onto the hallway, as well as Mr. van Rootselaar
and Mrs. Kenna’s room. The malfunctioning sprinkler was located inside door
number two.
A special thanks to the City
of Calgary fire department for its quick response in turning off the sprinkler
to avoid further damage.

We are going on a School
Winter Walk this Friday at 9am. Please ensure that your child is dressed
appropriately for our walk: snow boots, snow pants, jacket, gloves, mitts,
hats, toques, scarves etc.
- Bonjour mes amis!
We are looking for parents to assist with our
Carnival activities on Tuesday Feb 10. There will be stations set up between
10:30 and 1:30- led by teachers with your support. Volunteers are asked to meet
in the hub at 10:30 for a quick debrief, assist a classroom with station set
up, stay with that station, and then assist with transporting station materials
back in again.
If you are interested in joining us for our winter
celebration, please email Shannon McMaster at Cranston.Volunteers@Outlook.com
