Building our boats!

**Tuesday May 19 is picture day

Dear Mom and Dad:

Mrs. Ly and Ms. Deobald both had baby visits today for Roots of Empathy.

Thank you to students who brought materials in to share with the class. We had lots of fun making and testing our boats today! Ask me to tell you about the design I came up with. Using what we have learned about floating and sinking we became marine engineers again today to construct a boat that could float. Some of us even tried carrying a load with our boats.

Our 30x30 activity today: Observing and writing about our tree.

Question of the day: How did your boat making go? What worked? What didn’t work? What would you do differently next time?

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Housekeeping:

There is no school tomorrow because of PD day and on Monday because of Victoria Day.

  1. Tori: Making a boat was a little hard. The bottle part of my boat worked by floating but only for a minute. Next time I would not use paper cause I know now it just sinks.

  2. I used tin foil ,it floated .i figured out that tin foil rod for the sail was bending alot so next time I'll use a straw for sail pole.
    I loved my boat.

  3. It worked perfectly!
I don't really know because the bottom was made out of paper.
    I didn't make a second one.
I will make the bottom out of cardboard.
