Dear Mom and Dad:
Today we started our experiment and we called it “My
floating sinker”. We had a discussion about if a ball of play dough would float
or sink in water. There were some great predictions. Lucas said, “If we take a
small piece of play dough it will float.” Nathan said, “There is no air in the play
dough so it will sink.” We tested it to see and play dough does SINK!
We became marine engineers and had to design a way that we
would shape our play dough so that it can float. Ask me to tell you about my
design and the reasons of why I chose this type of design. Please let me know
what your prediction might be with my design.
Our 30x30 activity today: Gym outside for 30 minutes
Question of the day: Post on the blog why you think the play
dough sank. Then post on the blog what you are going to do with the play dough
to make it float and why.
Love,
The Rainbow Triad

It sank because it was a ball with no air. I am going to trap air inside of the playdough to make it float.
ReplyDeleteOwen - It sank because there was no air in the middle of the play dough. I will put tons of air in it.
ReplyDeleteThe play dough sank because it didn't have any air in it. To make it float, I would make a hole in it. Aaron
ReplyDeleteTori: The play dough sank because there was no air in it. I will poke some holes to put air in it which will help it float.
ReplyDeleteIt sank because it had no hole in it..so no air goes through it and pushes it up..I will put hole in it that should make it float.
ReplyDeleteSam thinks it is because it doesnt have any air bubbles and its heavy
