Does it float?

Dear Mom and Dad:

Today was Ms. Catsirelis’ last day with us L

We will miss her a lot. She is going to be an amazing teacher and we hope she visits us soon!

Today we began talking about what floats and what sinks? We were scientists today and we had a great discussion about why things float. Some of us said that anything with air will float, or anything light will float. But what about a cruise ship? We learned some new vocabulary such as density, mass, and buoyancy. Buoyancy means the ability or tendency to float in water, air or some other fluid.

Check out our very own Ms. Low’s video that she created for us! Please watch this with me and help me understand some of the concepts if I have any more questions.

We learned a lot of information from her video and using what we know now, we made some predictions about what floats and what sinks. Next week I will be experimenting using different objects and make observations.

Question of the day: What are some of your wonders about boats and buoyancy?

Love,
The Rainbow Triad
