Dear Mom and Dad:
We added a new reading strategy to our wall. It is called “Flippy
the Dolphin”. This reminds me that if it doesn’t make sense I can flip the
vowel sound.
We learned about King Ed. He is found at the end of words
and when a vowel stands before him in a word he says “Tell me your name!” and
the vowel will say it’s name: a, e, i, o, u. Ask me to tell you the short
sounds of the vowels, and then the long sounds.
We added a couple of new poems today and used this reading
strategy to read words such as: cake, bake, ride, lake, time etc. Please
practice this strategy with me with my home reading book. Ask me to find words
with long vowel sounds and post them on the blog!
We had word work in the afternoon and then learned more
about Saskatchewan and the people that live there. We watched some videos of Ukrainian
dance and the First nations dance. We added more information to our visual
journals.
Question of the day: Grade 1’s Ask me to find words with
long vowel sounds and post them on the blog! Grade 2’s, write out sentences with words with
king ed and post it on the blog.
Love,
The Rainbow Triad
