St Patrick's Day!

Dear Mom and Dad:

Happy St Patrick’s Day! We added two new poems to our poetry folder. I am getting really good at using the different strategies that we have learned so far to decoded unknown words. I should be able to use these strategies independently.

Ask me to tell you what I am working on in my math group.

We had word work in the afternoon and then continued our investigations of our prairie animals.

Mrs. McEvoy’s class had music in the afternoon.

We had a mini lesson about our feelings and how to recognize others’ feelings. We listened to a book called “ The Saddest King”. You can listen to the book here:

We had a discussion about recognizing verbal and non-verbal cues when people express their emotions and feelings. We also talked about why some people might feel that they need to hide their feelings. In grade one and two I should be able to recognize and demonstrate various ways to express feelings.

Question of the day: How many different words can you discover in the words LEPRECHAUN. You can unscramble the letters to find different words.

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Students led Conferences are this Thursday March 19 and Friday March 20. You can sign up by clicking on the link on the Cranston home page

March 2015 conferences are Student Led.  Students take the lead on sharing examples of their work, discussing next steps and setting goals. This does mean there may be more than one family present the classroom at the same time.  Each family will have up to 50 minutes in the classroom.
