Dear Mom and Dad:
Mrs. Ly and Ms. Deobald had Roots of Empathy this morning.
Ask me to tell you what the lesson was about.
In the morning, we did a writing activity about similes. We
read a book called “My Best Friend is as Sharp as a Pencil”. We learned that a
simile is used to compare things using “like” or “as”. This type of writing
helps me describe something to my reader. I had to come up with different words and
sentences to describe things. For example, Kingston wrote “Hot like….. the sun”.
We took a closer look at goal setting and then came up with
our own goals for school. I neatly wrote my goal in my visual journals and came
up with a couple of strategies that I could use. Ask me to share with you what
goal I came up with for myself and tell you the strategies I will use. You can
help me achieve this goal as well!
Question of the day: Post a simile on the blog about each
one of your family members.
