Dear Mom and Dad:
Today was all about literacy and reading! I participated in
2 book clubs today. Ask me to tell you what book club I was a part of and what
I did during that time.
We did a a lot of reading! We read stories with Mrs. Gates
and also read a story called “The true story of the 3 little pigs.” This was an
interesting story because it tells of the story from the wolf’s point of view.
Ask me to you “jabber the reteller” reading strategy to retell this story to
you. We talked about story maps and how we can retell a story by stating who
the characters are, the setting and what has happened in the beginning middle
and end of a story.
Question of the day: Post on the blog what you enjoyed doing
at book today.
Love,
The Rainbow Triad
Housekeeping:
Read a Thon: Tomorrow is “dress up as your favorite book
character” You can find items at home and put together something really simple.
This is optional.
We
are going on a field trip to the Telus Sparks Centre on Wednesday November 19
for the entire school day. We will need volunteers, please let your child's
teacher know if you would like to volunteer. We will be sending field trip
forms next week with all of the information. Thank you very much! ** Mrs. Ly’s class need at least 2 more
volunteers at the moment for this fieldtrip, if you would like to join us
please e-mail lmnguyen@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you.
We
will be starting our inquiry for building in a few weeks. We are looking for
materials that students can experiment with. If you, or your neighbors have
items such as: cereal boxes, paper towel rolls, coffee tins, pringle cans,
cardboard etc. Anything that we can build with! We will be asking students to
bring these items on the week of November 12. It would be great if you could
start collecting now. Thank you!
Ciara enjoyed the pigeon book club.
ReplyDeleteFiona enjoyed making the Lorax
ReplyDeleteSienna's best part was learning how to draw an owl at Owl Club! She also enjoyed reading a story In the Small Small Pond Club and discussing and drawing the animals that live under water.
ReplyDeleteSam favourite part of book club was when he illustrated and wrote a story about a pigeon who wants to stay up late....he enjoyed reading it to his little brother and sister at bedtime!
