Raz Kids

Dear Mom and Dad:

I have a RAZ KIDS information card in my red folder. We all practiced logging in today. I can show you how to do this. I should be reading everyday. I can also send my teacher recording’s of me reading! Please take some time tonight to log in with me and get familiar with the site.

In the afternoon we looked at editing our work. I am learning to look over my work and “self-assess” my work. This means that I can figure out what I need to work on for next time. We looked at making sure our words match our pictures, using capital letter at the beginning of our sentences, finger spaces, and periods.

Grade 1’s: I can experiment with capitals, finger spaces and periods. I can begin to use word wall words to help with my writing
Grade 2’s: I can write to develop, organize and express information and ideas. I can use my word dictionary and environmental print such as the word wall to aid with my writing.

We talked about using: green, yellow and a red light to determine how we are doing. Green means, “I got it.” Yellow means “ I’m working on it” and red means, “I’m stuck.” My teachers were really impressed with how honest we were about our work and had great conversation about how we can move forward.

In gym we practiced some exercises and did drumming on the core balls.

All three classes had music today with Ms. Jackson.

We ended of the day by listening to a read aloud. Ask me to tell you what book we will be listening to. Some of us might have watched the movie!

Question of the day: What chapter book are we listening to read by our teachers?

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Housekeeping:

We have three blog postings for each teacher to post what items you will be able to donate. Please post on the blog “Families helping families” under your child’s teacher if you are able to help. Thank you so much!

We are going on a field trip to the Telus Sparks Centre on Wednesday November 19 for the entire school day. Please make sure your child has returned their fieldtrip forms ASAP.

We are looking for materials that students can experiment with. If you, or your neighbors have items such as: cereal boxes, paper towel rolls, coffee tins, pringle cans, cardboard etc. Anything that we can build with! Thank you.
