Grounds for Change

Dear Mom and Dad:

We have a new student teacher! His name is Mr. Link and he will be with our triad everyday until the beginning of December. He is going to teacher school to become a teacher and we are very excited to show him what teaching will be all about. We added two new poems in our folders today. Ask me to tell you what the poems were about.

We are working on number sense in math. We are in new math groups today and began to talk about what representing numbers mean.

Mrs. Ly had Roots of Empathy today. Ask me to tell you what story we listened to and what feelings we discussed.

In the afternoon we met with Mrs. Drissler. She is from a program called “Grounds for Change” from the Calgary Zoo. We are thinking about an outdoor learning space for our school! We went outside today to see if we can find shapes and patterns in nature. We also talked about what it means if something is manmade or natural.

We have a new dance teacher. Her name is Ms. Janelle, she taught us how to swing today! So much fun! Ask me to show you some of the moves I learned.

There has been a lot of mix ups with gloves, toques, hats, scarves and snow pants. It would be really helpful if all of your child’s belongings were labeled. Thank you very much!

Question of the day: what shapes and patterns can you find in your home or yard? Post your findings on the blog, also post if it is man made or natural material.

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Housekeeping:

We have three blog postings for each teacher to post what items you will be able to donate. Please post on the blog “Families helping families” under your child’s teacher if you are able to help. Thank you so much!

We are going on a field trip to the Telus Sparks Centre on Wednesday November 19 for the entire school day. There are still a number of students who have not returned their forms. Please make sure your child has returned their fieldtrip forms ASAP. Children without signed forms will not be able to come on

We are looking for materials that students can experiment with. If you, or your neighbors have items such as: cereal boxes, paper towel rolls, coffee tins, pringle cans, cardboard etc. Anything that we can build with! Thank you.

  2. Mom and Ava are wearing pjs with patterns of stripes. Around the house we found our plates were round except for dads, his was square, and our glasses were like cyclinders. Everything was man made. The plants in the house have no real pattern or shape but were natural and not made by humans.
