Read-a-thon week!

Dear Mom and Dad:

This week is read-a thon week. I have a brochure with information inside my red folders. Please go over this with me. Some of us have brought a reading log home to record minutes that we read at home. Please remind me to bring this log back to school each day this week so that I can record my reading minutes from school. We started off the day with a kick off assembly with all of the information that we need to know for this week

We have been discovering and investigating seeds this past week and so we read the book “The Tiny Seed” by Eric Carle. For read-a-thon week we decided to decorate our door using the book “The Tiny Seed.” We each became a seed today and made seeds and designed a stem and a bloom. Ask me to describe to you what my seed and flower looked like.

We learned a new game in gym where we had to knock down snowmen using balls. It was so much fun and we were all really active the whole time.

Please read the brochure to find out all the exciting events happening this week. Tomorrow I can wear my pajamas and bring my favorite stuffed animal.

Question of the day: Post on the blog some of your favorite books.

Love,
The Rainbow Triad

Housekeeping:

Read a Thon: Tomorrow is “Cuddle up with a good book day”. Wear your pajamas! And bring your favorite stuffed animal.

Field trip forms were sent home today. Please review, sign and return ASAP. We will need volunteers, please let your child's teacher know if you would like to volunteer. We will be sending field trip forms next week with all of the information. Thank you very much! ** Mrs. Ly’s class currently has no volunteers at the moment for this fieldtrip, if you would like to join us please e-mail lmnguyen@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you.

We will be starting our inquiry for building in a few weeks. We are looking for materials that students can experiment with. If you, or your neighbors have items such as: cereal boxes, paper towel rolls, coffee tins, pringle cans, cardboard etc. Anything that we can build with! We will be asking students to bring these items on the week of November 12. It would be great if you could start collecting now. Thank you!
