Dear Mom and Dad:
We read a story called “Bad Day At Riverbend” by Chris Van
Allsburg. We did not read the ending though and had to come with our own idea
as to what the ending will be. Ask me to tell you what the story was about and
what I wrote as my ending. Then ask me to tell you what the ending was in the
story. We continue to work on sentence structure and that our sentences need to
make sense. This weekend ask me to write you a sentence. Grade 1’s should be
able to have the correct spelling for word wall words, capital letter at the beginning
of my sentences, finger spaces and periods. Grade 2’s should be writing
detailed sentences and can be adding more than one idea into a sentence. We can
use transition words such as: because, then, before, after etc.
We talked about what lines are and where we can find lines.
We noticed that lines are EVERYWHERE! They are found in all objects and we can
find lines on our bodies as well. We spent some time at the end of the day
listening to calming art music as we drew lines in our journals. We first had
to practice copying some lines to help us take a closer look at details. They
were simple lines at first and then got harder and harder.
Question of the day: What lines have you discovered over the
weekend. Tell us what kind of lines they are and where you found them.
Love,
The Rainbow Triad
