Peer Editing

Dear Mom and Dad:

We were introduced to “working with words” as our next Daily 5 component. Today we were introduced to some word wall words that we can practice this week on.

Grade 1’s are working on:

 and, away, big, can, come

Grade 2’s are working on:

always, around, because, been , before

I have a tic tac toe chart that I glued into my word work book that shows some activities I can choose during the week to help me with these words. Ask me to tell you what I can do with these words to practice writing them.

Today we did some peer editing. Ask me to tell you what this means. We each read another student’s writing and gave them some feedback as to what we liked and what they could add or work on. This is a great skill to have as today I practiced giving feedback as well as receiving feedback.

In gym we continued with gymnastics, ask me to show you some of the moves I practiced on mats today.

Question of the day: Post on the blog some sentences using the words of the week.

Mrs. Ly’s class has home reading book exchange every Mondays. If your child brought their book back to school today they should have a new one to bring home.
