We learned the Turkey Tango today! Ask me to show you my moves. We will try and post the song soon so we can listen to it.
We completed 3 rounds of daily 5 today, Ask me to tell you what I did, read to self, read to someone, work on writing. or guided reading with my teacher. Mrs. Ly's class and Ms. Deobald's class exchanged their home reading books today.
In math we worked on finding different combinations to a math problem. Grade 1's had to think of many different combinations of 10. There were 10 t-shirts in 2 different colors hanging on a clothesline. How many different combinations could there be? Grade 2's had 16 t-shirts in 3 different colors. I had to show my thinking in my math journals using pictures, words and numbers. We also had to write the number sentence (ex. 6+4=10)
We had a practice fire drill. We got out of the school quickly and safely. My teacher is proud of me.
We watched a couple of videos to start our fall inquiry before the fire alarm went. Ask me to tell you one thing I learned from the videos. We will continue our inquiry tomorrow.

Morgan learned that brown bears don't hibernate and they eat black bear cubs (this last piece surprised us). Black bears dig holes to hibernate in. Trees drink water from the ground and use sunlight and air to make plant food.

ReplyDeleteThere are two types of bears. Some bears hibernate , some do not. Some bears eat the brown bears!! So the brown bears hide from the other.
Autumn- trees have roots which mix with soil and they drink water through roots. Rain also brings water to the soil. The trunk and branches are like the body of the tree and the leaves are the babies. The tree also gets food from the sun. In autumn the leaves fall, they die and new leaves come when the tree gets food from the sun.
Anya learned that some bears hibernate and some bears don't. She also learned that trees' leaves fall when they hibernate.
